backstory
Kim Schutz is an interior designer focusing on texture, color and art as well as the nostalgia of family keepsakes and heirlooms. Each of her design projects includes an important object or story belonging to her client. She places great value on the use of antiques, vintage and hand-crafted pieces. Growing up in the Great Plains’ prairie of Oklahoma, Kim was greatly influenced by her surroundings and the backgrounds of her parents: her mother’s agrarian roots and love of nature and the natural world, and her father’s wanderlust sparked by his childhood travels around the world to places like Africa and the Philippines.
After 20 years as an attorney, Kim decided to place her full attention on her design work. Prior to starting her own business, she attended the University of Kansas to earn her Business Administration degree, as well as a minor in Humanities including Art History studies, and the University of Oklahoma to obtain her law degree. She has a certificate in Executive Coaching from the Tulsa Area United Way and was nominated as an Outstanding Women Leader of Tulsa. Her work is soon to be featured in Tulsa People magazine’s Home edition.
She has been designing and renovating homes for family and friends, and now for her clients, for nearly 20 years. She lives in Tulsa with her husband and their two sons.
