The Mediterranean on Lake Tenkiller Project

Lake Tenkiller in eastern Oklahoma’s Cookson Hills has been named “Oklahoma’s Clear Water Wonderland.” This clear body of water is surrounded by rock bluffs and wooded shoreline and scuba divers consider Lake Tenkiller one of the best dive locations in the state. Our client is originally from nearby Tahlequah but has been living in west Texas for some years. She purchased a house high in the hills overlooking the Lake several years ago, a remarkable stucco structure with a Santa Fe vibe (think flat roof and stucco with terracotta and turquoise accents). She called us with a request to transform the interior of the home from “Santa Fe” into more of a Mediterranean look where the aesthetic is derived from southern Spain, France and Italy as well as those countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, like Greece and Morocco. When I first visited the project site, I was blown away, not only by the house itself but also by the beauty of the surroundings (I have to admit I had never been to Lake Tenkiller despite being a lifelong Oklahoman!). We were tasked with renovating the kitchen, bar and bathrooms as well as outfitting the living and dining room spaces with new furnishings, rugs and accessories. I tell you, I have jumped right in (to the project, not the lake…yet).

On this blog (my very first!), I’ll be tracking the progress of this project- the Mediterranean on Lake Tenkiller. I hope you’ll follow along.
